Payton Campbell Earns NFCA Rawlings Gold Glove Award

Louisville, KY - Surry's Payton Campbell has been named a 2025 NFCA Rawlings Gold Glove Award recipient, one of the highest honors for defensive excellence in collegiate softball.  The award, presented by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) and Rawlings Sporting Goods, recognizes the top defensive players in each division of the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA).

Campbell, a redshirt freshman from Taylorsville and an Alexander Central high school graduate, helped lead Surry to both a Region 10 championship and Appalachian District Championship.  The left fielder helped Surry to a 5th place finish in the NJCAA Division III World Series. She was also named Region 10 Second Team All-Region.

Off the field, Campbell volunteered with Special Olympics while also being a member of the Surry Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA) organization.  She is currently pursuing her Associate in Arts degree at Surry.

The NFCA and Rawlings honored 27 student-athletes across the three NJCAA divisions in 2025, with nine players chosen for each division to form the Gold Glove Team at their respective positions by members of the National Fastpitch Coaches Association.
