Surry Student-Athletes Earn Region 10 Academic Honors
Kinston, NC - Surry Community College recently had 30 student-athletes receive spring All-Region honors for their academic performance. All-Academic honors are presented to Region 10 student-athletes who achieved at least a 3.0 grade point average while earning a minimum of twelve credit hours and participating in a spring semester sport.
"We are excited to have our student-athletes honored by Region 10 for their academic performance," said Surry Athletic Director Mark Tucker. "Our student-athletes have had an incredible academic year both on the field and in the classroom. Our coaches emphasize the importance of academics on a daily basis and we are very fortunate to have the support from our administration, faculty, and staff. Our student-athletes attended over 1,500 hours of study hall and tutoring in our Academic Support Center during this past academic year. We are extremely proud of our student-athletes for their commitment and perseverance in the classroom."
Surry baseball had 24 recipients including Tre Blankenship (Tazewell), Will Bradshaw (Carson), Chase Brown (Tazewell), Caleb Cheeks (Grayson County), Konor Davis (Alexander Central), Brennan Fleming (Eastern Guilford), Cade Gaither (West Iredell), Lucas Graham (West Rowan), Jackson Greene (Hough), Nathan Greene (West Rowan), Randy Holleman (West Iredell), Nohr Issa (Starmount), Chase James (Asheville Christian), Aaron Jones (South Rowan), Brooks Kinser (North Iredell), Austin Lapham (Alexander Central), Bryce Mabe (Atkins), Leyton McMahon (Asheville Christian), Brett Morris (South Rowan), Maddox Nelson (South Stokes), Elijah Palmer (West Rowan), Sylas Sechrist (Carroll County), Aiden Shropshire (Surry Central), Nolan Tovornik (Carson).
Six members of the Surry softball team were recognized including Nichole Cloke (J.M. Robinson), Carley Joyner (Forbush), Emily Mitchell (South Stokes), Jackie Morgan (North Wilkes), Jordan Snow (North Surry), Emma Sorrell (Forbush).
