Jones Named to Allstate NACDA Good Works Team

NORTHBROOK, Ill. - The National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA) and Surry Community College recently announced that student-athlete, Student Government Association (SGA) President, and Student Trustee, Ex Officio, on the Surry Community College Board of Trustees, Aaron Jones has been selected to the prestigious Allstate NACDA Good Works Team for the spring.  This national honor recognizes student-athletes who go above and beyond in their commitment to community service, academic achievement, and athletic excellence.

Aaron is one of only 20 student-athletes selected nationwide across all collegiate divisions and sports—and notably, he is the only NJCAA student-athlete to earn this distinguished recognition.

A member of the Surry Knights Baseball team, Aaron has demonstrated an exceptional dedication to serving others both on and off campus. Through his leadership as SGA President, he has helped foster a culture of service at Surry, organizing and supporting initiatives that connect students with meaningful outreach opportunities throughout Surry County.

Aaron's service extends across a wide range of organizations and initiatives. He has volunteered with the Foothills Food Pantry, assisting with food distribution efforts for individuals and families in need, and participated in Surry County's "Give A Kid a Christmas" program, helping assemble food boxes during the holiday season. He has also supported local homeless shelter initiatives, providing assistance and leadership in efforts to serve individuals experiencing homelessness.

In addition, Aaron has dedicated time to serving residents in local nursing homes, offering companionship and support to elderly community members, and has volunteered at a Veterans Luncheon to honor those who have served our country.

Beyond direct service, Aaron is passionate about mentorship and developing future leaders. He has spent time with local middle school students, providing mentorship and speaking on the importance of faith, leadership, and education. His commitment to faith-based leadership is further demonstrated through his service as President of Surry's Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA) Club, where he has led initiatives that encourage personal growth, character development, and community engagement among his peers. He also leads morning devotionals on the baseball field prior to Sunday games, further demonstrating his dedication to faith and leadership among his teammates.

Aaron also remains actively involved in community events, including assisting with the Special Olympics and supporting the Senior Games, where he helps create inclusive and engaging experiences for participants of all ages.

Across all of his efforts, Aaron exemplifies leadership, compassion, and a genuine commitment to improving the lives of others. His selection to the NACDA Allstate Good Works Team is a testament not only to his individual character, but also to the values of service and community that define Surry Community College.
